FAQ and AfterCare Advice

You are welcome to pay cash.  We also offer card payment facilities..
Wear as much or as little as you feel comfortable with, we will adapt to you.  Only the areas being worked on will be uncovered otherwise you are always covered with a sheet or towel. Sessions may require you to lie face up or down on the couch, if this is impractical for you please let us know and we will try to adapt the treatment to suit. If at any time you are uncomfortable, please inform the therapist so we can ensure you receive the best treatment possible. Home care advice and any recommendations for a follow up appointment will then be provided.
Try and relax as much as possible.Follow your therapist instructions and be sure to communicate your preferences. Please do ask questions. All our therapists are trained and can explain what and why they are doing what they are doing. If they don’t know the answer they will find out for you.
Some treatments like, deep tissue massages or sport massages / therapy, may create some pain. It should be more of a discomfort rather than severe pain and will be within your personal pain threshold.  As therapists we work with your bodies natural responses, aiding in pain relief and/or relaxation. Please tell your therapist if the discomfort is too much. There are several ways to ‘crack a nut!’
Your therapist will follow your lead during your session.  Feel free to specify if you would enjoy some quiet time. We also play music sometimes. If this doesn’t suit you, please do tell us and we will turn it off or change the type of music.
Everyone has their own experience. You may feel relaxed, revitalised and sometimes light headed.  It is normal to feel achy or sore, similar to a good work out up to 48 hours post treatment, especially if we've been working on an issue. Drink plenty of water to re-hydrate the tissues and flush out the toxins we have released during your treatment. Sometimes a warm (not hot!) bath can help with the soreness. If you feel light headed or ‘strange’ please sit in reception and wait until you feel ready to drive..

If you are sick or have a fever, it is best to wait until you are feeling better and are not contagious any longer. By having the treatment it can make you feel a lot worse.

Our general rule of thumb is:

  • Colds / Flu:
Stay away until the symptoms have gone
  • Diarrhea:
Stay away, wait until 48 hours after the symptoms have stopped.
  • Injury:
Wait until any redness or heat in the area has subsided. We can work around the area if needed, just not on the injury itself. If in doubt please call for advice.
  • Unsure:

Yes. Generally our gift cards have a 1 year lifespan. The date will be written on the voucher. Unfortunately if the cards haven’t been redeemed in this timeframe they become null and void.
We would appreciate 24-hour notice if you need to cancel your appointment.  We will be happy to help you reschedule your appointment if a problem occurs. Any appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice will have to be charged. Our appointments are valuable to both ourselves, as it’s our livelihood, but also to those who are in pain or need our help.

  • Relieve overused and stressed muscles from repeated and aggressive movements
  • Realign muscle fibers to help decrease pain, enhance performance and increase flexibility
  • Release the build-up of tension and promote blood flow (enabling shorter recovery time)
  • Decrease scar tissue from previous injuries and help keep further injuries at bay
  • Manipulate muscles, tendons, and ligaments to stretch fibers

Sports Therapy is a more complex and inclusive for injuries. Sports massage is just one of the many techniques used. Other modalities may include Myofascial Release, Posturology, Soft Tissue Manipulation, Clinical Acupuncture and Kinesiology Taping to name a few.

Sports Massage is just one technique we use when we do Sports Therapy. Both practices should not be thought of as being the same thing. Sports Therapy is a more complex approach for treating injuries. We use other modalities like Posturology, Myofascial release and soft Tissue Manipulation, to get to the route cause of your problem. Sports Massage is generally used as a maintenance but can also be used as part of a Sports Therapy treatment.
